Behind every step forward at Surrey Hospitals Foundation is a Board of Directors who volunteer their time, expertise and leadership in service of our community.

Our Board helps guide the Foundation’s direction, steward the generosity entrusted to us and ensure we remain focused on where philanthropy can have the greatest impact for patients and families. Their leadership helps us think beyond the needs of today and consider the health care system Surrey and the South Fraser region will need for generations to come.

At our recent Annual General Meeting, we had an opportunity to recognize that contribution, thank two long serving directors completing their service and welcome new leadership for the year ahead.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Harp Dhillon and Dr. Randeep Gill for their years of leadership and commitment to Surrey Hospitals Foundation.

As a former Board Chair, Harp helped guide the Foundation through an important period of growth and change. His leadership helped strengthen relationships with government, health care partners, donors and our community as significant investments in Surrey’s health care future moved forward.

Dr. Gill brought an invaluable perspective as a physician caring for patients in this region every day. Throughout his service, he helped ensure the experiences of patients, families and health care teams remained part of the Board’s conversations and decisions.

Reflecting on their service, Larry Thomas, Board Chair, shared:

“I am grateful for your thoughtful counsel, your commitment to our community and the confidence you have placed in what we can accomplish together. It has been a privilege to serve alongside you.”

Their contributions are part of a much larger legacy of volunteer leadership at Surrey Hospitals Foundation, and we are deeply grateful for the time, insight and commitment they have given to our community.

Welcoming new leadership

We are pleased to welcome Jenifer Lee to our Board of Directors. Jenifer is already well known to Surrey Hospitals Foundation through her many years of service on the Finance Committee. Her experience has given her a strong understanding of the Foundation, our responsibility to donors and the importance of thoughtful financial stewardship. We look forward to the perspective and commitment she will bring to this new role.

We are also pleased to recognize Barinder S. Bhullar’s appointment as Co Vice Chair. Barinder has served on the Board and brings his experience, community perspective and commitment to Surrey Hospitals Foundation into this expanded leadership role.

Larry Thomas continues as Board Chair, providing continuity in the Foundation’s governance and leadership as we look to the opportunities and responsibilities ahead.

Leadership that supports impact

The responsibility entrusted to our Board continues to grow alongside our community.

Surrey is growing toward becoming British Columbia’s largest city. Across Surrey and the South Fraser region, people rely on an ecosystem of care that spans hospitals, outpatient clinics, specialized facilities, long term care and community programs. They need access to the right care when they need it.

The scale of that need is clear. In 2025/26, Surrey Memorial Hospital recorded 180,983 emergency department visits. More than 6,000 babies are born there each year, and its dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department saw more than 55,000 visits in 2025. Families across the region also rely on specialized services including neonatal care, surgery, mental health care and support for older adults.

Our 2025/26 Annual Report reflects the people, partnerships and generosity behind the progress made over the past year. It shares what our donors and partners have helped make possible and the impact of working together to strengthen care across Surrey and the South Fraser region.

“As the South Fraser region grows, we have a responsibility to strengthen the full continuum of care for the people who rely on it,” said Nicole Robson, President & CEO of Surrey Hospitals Foundation. “The decisions we make today will shape care for generations. Working alongside our health care partners, community and Board, we can build on what has been entrusted to us, bring research and new approaches into care, and ensure our health care ecosystem grows with the people it serves.”

To every member of our Board, past and present, thank you. Your leadership, stewardship and commitment help make it possible for Surrey Hospitals Foundation to serve our community today while helping build the health care system future generations will rely on.
