Recently, we have made an investment in the work of Surrey’s Youth For Care team. These funds will help them provide care and support to one focused area of the hospital each year.

Today their executive team met with three groups from the hospital, hearing presentations for their funding consideration. The YFC team weighed the options against three criteria: impact on the community, passion of the presenter(s), and whether it was in line with their values of CARE (Compassion, Awareness, outReach and Empowerment). They came to a unanimous decision to support the social work team at Surrey Memorial! Their $10,000 investment will help this hard working team provide care to many different people in various circumstances.

The YFC team also dropped off additional hygiene and art kits that their team of volunteers regularly prepares. The hygiene kits will be distributed to patients in Surrey’s new Urgent and Primary Care Centre. The art kits are distributed to many different areas of the hospital; these current ones will be handed out to children visiting family in the palliative care unit.

What an inspiring group of youth! We are continually inspired by your generosity and passion for your community, YFC. Thank you.
