The first annual Foundation Week highlights the importance and impact of the 10 health care foundations within Fraser Health Authority.

To date, Surrey Hospitals Foundation has raised over $160 million.

HIGHLIGHTS

Here are just a few of the many recent ways Surrey Hospitals Foundation donors have supported health care in Surrey:

Children’s Health Centre

Learn More

Together with the community, we have raised $6 million to renovate the Children’s Health Centre at Surrey Memorial Hospital. This funding will help transform the way our children are treated; new clinics will be added and Neurology, Cardiology & Nephrology (kidney) services are going to be expanded.

Critical Care Equipment During COVID-19

Learn More

COVID-19 Response Fund donors have helped secure over 100 additional pieces of equipment. Thanks to their support, Surrey Memorial’s Critical Care Team and Respiratory Teams are now able to utilize new ultrasound machines. These ultrasounds are essential tools to help accurately insert advanced therapy central lines and complete timely diagnostics at the bedside.

Donors have also helped us purchase vein finders, optiflow monitors, defibrillators, a UVGI cleaning robot, and more.

Interventional Oncology Program

Learn More

SHF has invested in two innovative technologies to kick-start a new minimally invasive Interventional Oncology Program at Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH), a first in our community.

Together with our Community Champion, McQuarrie LLP, who donated $100,000 toward this project, we have funded a Microwave Ablation Machine and a Cryoablation Machine for the Interventional Radiology team.

Tomosynthesis at the Breast Health Clinic

Learn More

With incredible donor support, SHF was able to purchase Tomosynthesis for Surrey’s Breast Health Clinic at JPOCSC. This new 3D mammography machine will provide greater detection of abnormalities hidden in dense breast tissue, which will increase early detection of breast cancer, and provide greater accuracy for determining the exact size, shape, and location of abnormalities.

Music Therapy at Czorny Alzheimer Centre

Learn More

Czorny Alzheimer Centre is home to 72 dementia patients. SHF is pleased to support a monthly musical therapy program for these residents every month.

Mata Tripta Family Birthing Unit

Learn More

At their annual Gurpurab Radiothon, RedFM’s listeners and community rallied together in celebration of Gurpurab to raise over $750,000 to support upgrades to the Mata Tripta Family Birthing Unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Funds raised from this event supported the purchase of 2 infant resuscitation warmers with required accessories, 3 Bili Meters with photo therapy lights and blankets to treat and cure jaundice; 10 specialty devices to help women during labour; milk warmers; breast pumps, and; a variety of other pieces of equipment that will ensure each room is fully outfitted for delivery and care of newborn babies.

3T MRI at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre

Learn More

Surrey now has a 3 Tesla MRI at the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre thanks to donor support. This magnet was the first clinical 3T MRI installed in the entire province.

Parent and Youth in Residence Programs in CAPSU

Learn More

At the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Stabilization Unit (CAPSU), SHF helps to fund the Parent and Youth in Residence Program. Parent in Residence and Youth in Residence are young people and families with lived experience in child and youth mental health. Working alongside our Clinicians, they provide peer support, mentoring, system navigation, and access to information, resources, networks, and education.
